Most buyers only see the beginning and the end of importing a car—you pick one online, and it eventually reaches your gate. But what really goes on in the middle? The whole process is more complex than most people think. Knowing each step helps explain why being precise is important and how Bitmalo handles risks at every turn.
The journey kicks off with the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). This 17-character code tells you everything: the make, model, engine type, and where it originally came from. Our team checks the VIN against official databases and seller papers, making sure the car is exactly as advertised. For many places, VIN checks are also a must for emissions compliance and getting it registered.
Next up is a thorough inspection. Apart from just photos, this includes checking variants, emissions conformity, safety gear, and condition reports. Once you give the go-ahead, Bitmalo sends an invoice and acts as the buyer of record, getting the title and sorting out export clearance.
Once all the paperwork is done, the car gets cleared for export. Depending on where it's going, it's loaded into a sealed container, onto a Ro-Ro ship, or into a secure air cargo hold. Every single shipment comes with all-risk insurance to keep your asset safe while it's moving.
When it arrives, the vehicle goes through customs. Taxes, VAT, and local charges are calculated. Bitmalo’s licensed brokers submit the necessary entries, classify the car under the right tariff code, and make sure documents like the bill of sale, export title, and inspection report match up with local rules.
Once it's released, the car is transported by a covered carrier to your city. Bitmalo also gives you a registration pack, with guidance specific to your country—whether it’s emissions stickers in Germany, Crit’Air compliance in France, or REPUVE inscription in Mexico.
Getting a car from VIN to your driveway is complex, but with the right partner, it feels simple. Bitmalo handles every stage so your only job is to pick out the car you want.
